Josh October 19th

Today I ticked off a major milestone….! I just walked through an entire airport with no cane or wheelchair…! This is the first time since 1999 I haven’t needed either to help me, feels like one of my best moments, felt great and free, something I don’t say to often, getting more of my life back, it’s the small things we take for granted that feels amazing, hurt a little but didn’t bother me, next test is to see if I need it in Vegas …!

Over the past 12 1/2 years I have truly learnt the meaning of “never give up” from my son – From the morning after Josh’s surgery at about 3 am that scary frightening morning when he was basically a “functioning head and brain” – Josh set a series of goals – his final one was to “walk down the street with his mates without them having to wait for him” Josh’s ultimate recovery goal…Each day Josh  gets closer to achieving this goal. Josh’s cord has never recovered from his initial accident, it still presents as a complete quadriplegia – but Josh has continued to defy the Doctors prognosis and prove that anything is possible! It takes dogged commitment, courage, in overcoming this cruel and unrelenting injury. We have been supported along the way by family, friends that have been with us from Day 1 and still walk the journey and new friends – Josh’s amazing fiancée Amelia, the awesome team of specialists at Project Walk who really are the best of the best…I look forward to Josh’s wedding day when he will “WALK the aisle without his stick” and watch him commence the next phase of his life as two….
First attempt at jumping forwards..! Haven’t jumped off my feet in over 12 years, felt pretty cool, looks a little crossed up but didn’t lock my right knee out which is awesome…
