My Final day At Project Walk

Today was my final day training at PROJECT WALK
To say the least it’s been a much bigger journey for me this time than we all could have expected. My body has achieved things that have surprised me but it has also put up a huge struggle with things I thought would be easy. I have met so many amazing new friends since being here and watched Amelia’s and my relationship grow even stronger each and every day.

Mum has seen so much as well which is awesome as she’s been on this roller coaster as much as me….

I quickly want to thank a few people who made this trip possible, without you I would never have been able to get here.
First of all my amazing mum (Kay) and fiancé (Amelia)… They’re amazing people who donated their time and money…
The Greedy family and Judd’s memorial fundraiser (still giving even when his not with us), all the crew from the MLC Risk Writers Retreat weekend (where I presented one of my talks) in Western Australia earlier this year who donated the funds to my training at project walk. Your generosity was mind blowing and proof that there is still amazing people in this world willing to help a stranger (at the time).
And the other amazing groups that put in the time to pull donations as well for my training from other talks I did earlier this year (I’ll be here forever naming you all)…
Overall it has been an emotional and testing year. From all the hospital visits and surgeries in March to coming very close to losing my life…. (Of which not many knew about).
Somehow with the love and support I turned probably one of my biggest hurdles around and made it to the States to attend Project Walk.
Having my new therapist over here Uschi (CranioSacral and Physical Therapy) who was honestly one of my biggest catalysts that bought me back from a very dark place, a place that only Amelia and mum truly knew what I was fighting with (health wise and mentally).
My trainers Josh, JW, Yuri, Yoshi and Jen who put up with my tantrums and watched me move forward with my life…
To Matt Piva and the SKULLCANDY family who have been great backing me with my recovery and future endeavours and also Mario and Braden from the NEWERA family
To my mates Trigger, Maddo, Dingo and Graham (top notch auto) who came down to the steps event to support me and all the other clients at the steps event and who also have helped me with my recovery and future goals and putting me in touch with their contacts to also help upcoming plans …
This trip has bought me so much that I will take home and not take for granted. It’s been a much more difficult trip but I think I needed it to be. You don’t appreciate what you learn as much if it’s easy…
Thank you to everyone back home with all your positive messages and comments throughout my recovery especially lately, you guys keep me focused more than you all realise, friends and strangers….
And best of all…….
I OFFICIALLY HAVEN’T USED MY CANE IN 6 WEEKS… I have a long and hard road ahead but you all make it worth it and easier. I’m far from healed and have equally as bad days as good but I’ll get there and I will NEVER give up.
We have some new and fun projects coming up to do with helping others in need, me getting back on the bike and motivating others at the same time……..
One last thing, I want to thank my 4 mates and grandma who are no longer with us. My boys, Bronte, Matt, Judd, Heath and my Grandma Dottie are by my side every step of the way. They too are my motivation and strength when I need it most. I love and miss you all so so much x
I’m on a mission and I’m excited for my future, please everyone get behind me and watch what is to come….
