MOVE TO CHANGE

It took me 2 – 3 hard years to get the strength and stability to get out of the wheel chair, it took over 10 years to finally get rid of my walking stick…. I wish it was that easy but it wasn’t, I had to fight every single day, not just physically but mentally, I had to go beyond believing in myself, I left no stone un turned to achieve my goals. I had more days and nights than I could even count when my mind says enough was enough, just give up, the pain, the unknowing feeling of all this hard work would truly pay off, then I’d remind myself 2 things, I’m closer to my goals than I was on June 25th 2000 and if I “gave up” I knew that in a few months, years I’d have that horrible regret of “what if”…. What if I didn’t give up, what if I had of just kept fighting……
Finally after 12 years I got to break my cane and walk unaided, it was a lot harder, more painful, more restrictive, less distance travelled but I would just keep trying every single day, next thing I knew 18 months had passed and I never once looked for my cane nor needed it, until 4 months ago when my knee finally had enough, I’m back on my cane temporally until my knees better, I haven’t failed nor gone backwards, because I’m still moving forward….
I use my story, my recovery as an example for people to never give up on them self, their goals, whatever it could be, big or small #BeRelentless#MyStoryOurStory #Motivation #Motivation
