WHEN GIVING UP IS NOT AN OPTION!

Have you ever set a major goal and found after a year or two it was just too hard and gave up? Well for me giving up was never an option, my goal was to get my old life back nothing more nothing less…

It took me 2 – 3 hard years to get the strength and stability to get out of the wheel chair, it took over 10 years to finally get rid of my walking stick…. I wish it had been easier, but it wasn’t! I had to fight every single day, not just physically but mentally, I had to go beyond believing in myself, I left no stone unturned to achieve my goals. I had more days and nights than I could even count when my mind said “enough was enough, just give up, the pain, the unknowing feeling of all this hard work, when would it truly pay off”?

Then I’d remind myself of 2 things, I’m closer to my goals than I was on June 25th 2000 and if I “given up” I knew that in a few months, years I’d have that a horrible regret of “what if”…. What if I didn’t give up, what if I had of just kept fighting…… Finally after 12 years I got to break my cane and walk unaided. Without my cane, walking was a lot harder, more painful, more restrictive, less distance travelled, but I would just keep trying every single day. Next thing I knew 18 months had passed and I never once looked for my cane nor needed it, until 4 months ago when my knee finally had enough. I’m back on my cane temporally until my knee is better, I haven’t failed nor gone backwards, because I’m still moving forward…. I use my story, my recovery as an example for people to never give up on them selves, their goals, whatever it could be, big or small! #BeRelentless#MyStoryOurStory #Motivation #MotivationWrite your thoughts
